products for peace from bombs dropped in the secret war on laos

Today we’re celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release for

Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Have You Ever Seen the Rain?

There have been a number of speculations about the hidden meaning behind the lyrics to this 1971 hit. Some say the “rain” refers to the millions of bombs dropped throughout the Vietnam War; others believe this classic is a metaphor from the shift in ideals from the 1960’s to the 70’s.

While the same problems that were prevalent in the 1960’s remained through the 70’s (and in some ways until today), the American public became less vocal in the fight for change.

But in the end, the lyrics may simply refer to the mounting tension between the Creedence Clearwater Revival band members!

What’s most important is how this tune resonates with you.
